Our Dog

Two weeks ago we lost our family dog, Bazooka. We named him after the bubble gum brand a few days after we brought him home as a puppy those thirteen years ago. I don't think we fully realized how much this small animal touched our lives until now.I made a virtual album of happy times, thoughts and memories. You can view the full album by clicking the button right below:A page and some writing excerpted from the album: "Of all the fads, first crushes and have-to-haves of childhood and adolescence, the one love that never faded was for this little dog."

We lost our thirteen year old dog the Monday before Thanksgiving. Anyone who has loved a pet can relate. They touch our hearts in ways we don't even fully realize until they're gone. It is plain to see you loved him very much, and yes, you will meet again at Rainbow Bridge.

It is SO hard losing a pet. Such a great idea to make a photo album, though. My toddler had a lot of trouble when we lost our dogs last spring, so maybe I'll borrow this idea. Thanks!

You may not be ready to read about other losses, but if you are I described my toddler's interpretation of what happened here. http://appetiteforconversation.blogspot.com/2009/10/mystery-solved.html

So sorry to hear your news. Perhaps Rainbow Ridge will comfort you;
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I loved this tribute for your sassy little dog... I'm the mother to a terrier myself, for such little dogs they do occupy a large space in your heart!

When I lost first dog {Max, a yellow lab @ 15 1/2 yrs. old } I grieved his loss tremendously... he too accompanied me over many milestones... my first apartment, first real heartbreaks, etc... He was my constant companion... I always felt safe and never felt alone. When he was gone, the emptiness was astounding.

Upon his passing, somebody gave me a little medal that said the following: "My spirit never dies, it only changes form, I will always be with you"

I will leave you with that sweet thought... and my genuine condolences to your family.
