I'm never in a rush to see summer go. And here, it never seems in a hurry to leave. There'll be signs of its departure. A certain shift in the light, earlier sunset, and latent color in the liquidambars. But it will persist a little past its calendarial rights, interjecting spells of heat and languor in the sensible world of gray cardigans and early morning lectures. Perhaps it's the seriousness of autumn I'm most reluctant to adopt, being too lately incompatible with its stern and scheduled demeanor. Nevertheless, the carelessness of June, July and August is about to slip behind a veil, as foreign and faraway as arid winds, peachy sands and Moroccan arches. Sandallwood fans purchased last week inspired this tutorial for Project Wedding - you can find the full details over there!

Oh, I love these kind of fans(have a similar sandalwood one), and don't you just love the smell of sandalwood. Well, I do. :-)
Ahhh all these pretty soft soft soft shades.. how I love your journal.
And I wish my wedding wasn't past, those fans are begging to be made!
Such splendidly evocative prose. It almost makes me wistful, but in a good way. It's always refreshing to visit your immaculate site :)
That fan is gorgeous, I love how it looks like lace.
So elegant and classy...I would of loved to have had these at my wedding...you always amaze me with your creativity! I don't know what is wrong with our weather....fall is not coming at all to the Westcoast of British Columbia...hot hot hot...I long for cooler sweater weather!
Wonderful project. I miss summer too, but so looking forward to fall.
These fans are so lovely -- actually I like the whole theme of the photographs. It reminds me of the turn of the twentieth century in the Southern US.
I always love favors that double as escort cards - beautiful!
LOL! I bought one of those fans when I was in Barcelona. I didn't expect it to be one of a kind or something you couldn't get anywhere else, but I was still surprised to see it in this post :D
It was 1 euro, but it was so pretty... :D
That was beautiful. It really captured the feeling of the end of summer for me.
(Had to look up "liquidambars," never came across that one before. Gorgeous-looking word.)
finally, someone who isn't yet ready to embrace fall! i love summer and really hate to see it go so soon. lovely post.
Well at least fall is such a lovely time of year :)
And I adore sandalwood fans! For some reason I buy lots and lots of them...and than just give them away lol
beautiful!
So pretty!
The "interjecting spells of heat" have started today... I know you can feel it the same as I can here in Southern California. That is truly the start of fall in my mind. There is a time for all of it, I suppose...
OMG, your blog is so beautiful, I like it !
You're in my fav's !
Wonderful pics. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing....your writing is inspiring.
